INTRODUCING KIVU RADIO!

KIVU Radio is a space for curated sound, with a live play button to give a little of that uniting feeling of true radio, by connecting distant people listening in the same moment. Different artists and DJ's will take over KIVU Radio, launching playlists and sound worlds around each coffee. Since our new espresso is a Congolese single origin, program 01 is 100% Congolese music featuring classic icons like Papa Wemba and Tabu Ley Rochereau with contemporary artists we love mixed in.

CURATOR | SECOUSSE RADIO

If you ask KIVU Radio 01's curator, world music is dead. Perhaps because it was a false music genre label from the get go. Local music, on the other hand, is thriving. Whether it falls into folk, ghetto, or a sub-culture, one thing is for certain: the popularity and significance of any country's local and street music is ever strong; from french suburbs to Cabo Verde, Bamako to Rio, Kingston to Atlanta, to Kinshasa, DRC.

Since 2006, Secousse broadcasts the cream of local hits worldwide, via a web-radio, mixtapes, parties, and its record label. The curator Etienne Tron is a french DJ and producer who achieved international fame through many adventures like the afropop band The Very Best or Le Comptoir Général, a Parisian cultural centre dedicated to marginalized creativity.
